Provider Bio
“Dermatology is a field where we can make a big difference in people’s
lives quickly, whether by improving appearances, removing skin cancers,
treating rashes, or just with educating our patients about their conditions.
I was drawn to dermatology because it’s a very visual and tactile
field of medicine. Helping patients, and getting to know them & their
families, gives me joy daily,” says Louisville-based physician assistant
Joanna Baskett.
A nationally-certified physician assistant since 2001, Joanna spent six
years as a PA-C in Family Medicine and Urgent Care before shifting focus
to dermatology in 2007. Graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in international
studies from University of Connecticut, Joanna worked with international
businesses before her passion for science led her to a career change.
She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from
A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2001.
She discovered Colorado during a winter ski trip and has lived here since
1993 (with a brief hiatus during graduate studies). In true Colorado form,
she enjoys staying active hiking, cycling, skiing and traveling. Joanna
is a member of the Colorado Society of Dermatology Professionals (CSDP),
and speaks Spanish, Polish, and some French in addition to English.
“Dermatology Specialists promotes a positive and professional environment
for patients, providers, and staff to feel welcomed and comfortable in
a medical setting; we have some of the kindest, brightest, and caring
providers in dermatology.” We’re glad to have her as part
of the team.
