Provider Bio

Diane Utz has been working in women’s health for about 12 years. She entered the field by working as a doula (trained labor and birth helper) and childbirth educator. She graduated with a degree in nursing from Rockhurst University's Research College of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2008. As an undergrad, she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and was awarded the Dean’s Award/Board of Director’s Award for top academic performance.

She went on to earn her masters of nursing degree at the University of Kansas' School of Nursing in 2012. When she completed her graduate studies, she was awarded the Ginger Breedlove Award for community service and leadership.

Prior to joining Foothills Community Midwives, she worked for women's health clinics in the Kansas City area providing full-scope midwifery care to women of all ages: prenatal care, intrapartum care and management during labor and delivery, post-partum care, lactation support and contraceptive management. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives.

"I love educating women about their bodies and supporting women during their pregnancies," Diane says. "I had four unmedicated births and think women are much stronger than they know!"

Diane and her husband Mike recently relocated to the Boulder area from Kansas City, where they raised four children, now all adults or attending college. They are very excited to spend any newfound free time hiking and biking in Colorado, whenever possible in the company of their goldendoodle named Scout. Diane is also an avid reader and knits ... a lot!
